It takes more than mere wishes to get rid of a defect.
Our character flaws are behind most of the issues we have with others. They can make us feel sorry for ourselves, set us up for disappointment, blow small problems out of proportion, and downplay the good things in life.
The truth is, any unhappiness we feel is really about how we see things and react to the people and situations around us. Once we start working the Twelve Steps, blaming others for how we feel doesn’t work anymore. Recognizing that we have flaws is a big part of our recovery. It’s crucial to really believe that our problems come from our own defects, not from the people around us. We’re responsible for letting go of these flaws and replacing them with love and positive actions.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will admit to one of my defects today and consciously work to replace it with a kind act.
