Asking for help is the first step to healthy living.
When we admit to our friends that we’re unsure about how to handle the confusing or scary situations in our lives, we open ourselves up to receiving help from a Higher Power. Help often comes in unexpected ways. Sometimes, a passage from a book will suddenly feel meaningful, or we might feel as if God has answered us through our dreams. But more often, the support we need comes through the kind words of a friend. Many of us hesitate to ask for help because we fear it will make us seem weak or unappealing. We wanted to be liked and admired, so we pretended everything was fine, even when it wasn’t. It’s a huge relief to share our struggles with others, and the best part is, we get the guidance we need.

Today’s Affirmation:
I Won’t be afraid to cry “help” today. My Higher Power can help only if I’m open to it.
Since 1954, A Life Of My Own has been a stable force in the recovery of many alcoholics worldwide. It is a spiritual resource with practical applications in our daily lives.
