Our teachers surround us.

When we were kids, our parents and siblings were like our teachers, but they weren’t always the best ones. Some habits we picked up back then might still stick with us, and things like shame and guilt can linger because of the messages they gave us. While we can’t change what we were taught, we can remember that they did the best they could with what they knew. They passed on what they learned, just like we do. The good news is, the Twelve Step program can help us let go of old habits that don’t help anymore and focus on ones that do.

Life is full of teachers, and we can learn something from each one. Some teach us patience, others teach us to be more accepting, and a few will make us laugh. Every single person we meet has the potential to change us in some way. Even though we might judge people or situations, wiser folks remind us that there’s always something valuable to learn. Our teachers are everywhere.

Today’s Affirmation:

God, grant me serenity today, along with wisdom and acceptance, so I can fulfill your will for me.
