No decision has to bind us forever. 🙅🏿‍♂️♾️
A lot of us aren’t really sure what we want to be doing a year from now, or even a month from now. When we’re asked to make decisions that tie us down to one path, it can feel pretty scary. Will we be able to change our minds later?
It’s a big shift from how things used to be.
In the past, many of us lived with more control—knowing exactly what we were doing made us feel safe. We even liked having some control over other people’s lives (even if we didn’t always succeed at that). Now, even though we still have responsibilities at work and home, we’re way freer. We can make choices for ourselves, day by day. At first, it can feel a little weird, almost like we’re being irresponsible by not taking care of everyone else and changing our minds when we want. But we’ll get used to this new way of living—and eventually, we’ll love it!
…
Today’s Affirmation:
My decision today will be for this day only. I can change my mind tomorrow.
Since 1954, A Life Of My Own has been a stable force in the recovery of many alcoholics worldwide. With over nine million copies in print (the original text has been revised), this “little book” offers daily thoughts, meditations, and prayers for living a clean and sober life. It is a spiritual resource with practical applications in our daily lives.
Karen Casey is also the best-selling author of Each Day a New Beginning, a daily meditation for Women. She has spoken on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth for more than twenty years. Casey is passionate about helping others in the Twelve Step support groups, where her own recovery from addiction began more than three decades ago.
