There is no right way to pray.
Prayer isn’t a must in Twelve Step programs. In fact, there are no requirements—just suggestions. If we follow them, they help us see things differently, and that can actually change our experiences. One suggestion is to try to connect with God and understand what He wants for us through prayer and meditation. Some of us get nervous about prayer at first because it feels religious, but we soon learn that the program isn’t about religion—it’s about spirituality.
This means we can rely on a higher Power that wants to help us stay safe and on track. The key is letting that Power in, using whatever method feels right for us. Not everyone feels comfortable kneeling to pray, and that’s okay. Some people like having casual, friendly chats with God, while others might find a deeper connection through nature, like hearing a bird sing or seeing a flower bloom. The point is, whatever works for us is perfectly fine and actually the best way to do it. Making prayer a part of our daily routine becomes a habit that helps protect and strengthen us throughout the day.
Today’s Affirmation:
I Will relish my moments with God today. They will help me in every circumstance. I’m never alone as long as I remember God.
