An inspiring book, a caring friend, a moment of silence—all can offer the guidance we seek.
We’re learning to ask for help when facing tough situations in our lives. In the past, we thought we had to figure everything out on our own. It’s such a gift now to ask trusted friends for advice.
Hearing how a certain book or quote helped someone else has also become really useful. When we turn to silence for answers, it can be hard to tell if it’s our ego or our higher self-guiding us. But the key is that we’re open to seeking help. We’re not stuck trying to handle everything alone anymore. Guidance is always there—we just need to know where to look and be open to hearing it.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will look at my problems today as opportunities for intimacy with other people. Problems will free me from isolation.
not do someone else’s task today. Growth comes from each of us being responsible for ourselves.
Since 1954, A Life Of My Own has been a stable force in the recovery of many alcoholics worldwide. With over nine million copies in print (the original text has been revised), this “little book” offers daily thoughts, meditations, and prayers for living a clean and sober life. It is a spiritual resource with practical applications in our daily lives.
Karen Casey is also the best-selling author of Each Day a New Beginning, a daily meditation for Women. She has spoken on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth for more than twenty years. Casey is passionate about helping others in the Twelve Step support groups, where her own recovery from addiction began more than three decades ago.
