Happiness is a decision.

We came into this program feeling desperate, maybe even looking for some peace. We knew our lives were harder than most. But when we saw everyone at the meetings smiling and laughing, it really hit us – we weren’t alone.

Luckily, we’ve stuck around long enough to figure out where that joy is coming from. We’ve learned that we can find happiness no matter what the alcoholic is doing. Seeing how others live has shown us this. Now, we’re passing that lesson on to the newcomers. The Twelve Steps aren’t just rules; they’re a way to take life one day at a time. When we follow them, we realize life doesn’t have to be as tough as it once seemed. Our thoughts and actions are up to us. If we stay connected to this journey, even if the drinker keeps drinking, we can still find happiness.

Today’s Affirmation:

I will set a good example for someone else today. I will be living proof of the maxim “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
