If we embody the principles taught in the Twelve Steps, our lives will get better. 📶
No matter if we started our first Twelve Steps meeting last week, last year, or five years ago, we all share one thing: We’ve found hope, and our lives are getting better. The good vibes seem to spread to everyone around us. Maybe they really are contagious! We’ve learned from others, and the more we’ve followed the slogans, the Steps, and the program’s principles, the easier it’s been to handle life’s challenges. A lot of us came in thinking this wouldn’t work for us.
Our problems felt way too big. Some of us even resisted the help we were offered, thinking it couldn’t be that simple. We hung onto the pain for a while because we weren’t ready to let go. But now, we see newcomers who are just like we were. It makes us happy to know how much better things can get for them, too.

Today’s Affirmation:
How grateful I am that I gave up my resistance. My life will be as joyful as I made it today.
Since 1954, A Life Of My Own has been a stable force in the recovery of many alcoholics worldwide. With over nine million copies in print (the original text has been revised), this “little book” offers daily thoughts, meditations, and prayers for living a clean and sober life. It is a spiritual resource with practical applications in our daily lives.
Karen Casey is also the best-selling author of Each Day a New Beginning, a daily meditation for Women. She has spoken on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth for more than twenty years. Casey is passionate about helping others in the Twelve Step support groups, where her own recovery from addiction began more than three decades ago.
