Today is what we make of it
No matter the weather, what’s on our to-do list, or who we bump into, we can still choose peace and joy.
When we get stuck obsessing over things we can’t change—or trying to control how other people act—we end up feeling drained, frustrated, and unhappy. But here’s the truth: the one thing we do have control over is our attitude.
It’s easy to point fingers and blame others when life feels messy. But the more we take ownership of our thoughts and emotions, the more power we give ourselves. We stop feeling like victims of the day and start showing up as the ones in charge.
And as Abraham Lincoln supposedly said:“Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” So today, let’s decide—joy is ours if we choose it.

Today’s Affirmation:
Nobody can mess with my attitude but me!

Since 1954, A Life of My Own has been a key resource for alcoholics in recovery worldwide, with over nine million copies in print. This revised “little book” offers daily reflections, meditations, and prayers to support a clean and sober life, with practical spiritual guidance for everyday living.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. She has spent over 20 years speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth. Her recovery from addiction started in Twelve-Step groups more than 30 years ago, and she’s passionate about helping others in those same groups.
