*April 19*

We can be grateful for every experience if we change our attitude.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe we’ll ever feel real joy or peace again, especially after everything we’ve been through.

And it all comes down to how we look at things.

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” But have you really felt what that means?

It’s not just a cute quote—it’s a whole mindset.

We don’t always get to choose what happens to us, but we do get to choose how we respond.

That’s stoicism101 right there.

Maybe your drinking buddy is still in the thick of it. Maybe your coworker’s attitude makes you want to scream. But if you shift your lens, and tap into some patience, practice acceptance, and lean on your higher power, this changes things.

Your attitude can either carry you through or completely take you out. Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about choosing to see things differently. To look at the mess and say, “Okay, what can I learn here?” That simple shift? It can change your whole day.

Today’s Affirmation:

My mind awaits whatever I decide to put in it. I control the kind of day I will have.

A Life of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own, a “little book” that offers daily reflections, meditations, and prayers to support a clean and sober life, with practical spiritual guidance for everyday living.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. She has spent over 20 years speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth. Her recovery from addiction started in Twelve-Step groups more than 30 years ago, and she’s passionate about helping others in those same groups.

This summary is not a substitute for the original book; all quotes are paraphrased and credited to the author and publisher. Thank you.
