A Thought for the Day

Leap Essence’s Thought for the Day is a daily meditation for those in recovery or dealing with addiction to alcohol or drugs.

Check in with us every morning to read a new passage and find your inspiration for the day.

We are learning to “practice these principles in all our affairs.”

Having a set of principles to live by has totally changed our lives.

They give us something real to measure our actions and goals against—and that’s been a huge source of strength.

We don’t have to waste energy trying to be like everyone else just because we’re unsure of who we are.

Every day, we get to know ourselves a little better.

Overtime we’ve learned, it’s way more comfortable to be real with people than it is to lie—or even to stretch the truth a little.

Lying used to leave us constantly looking over our shoulders, but now, on our good days, we practice honesty by giving up the need to control everything.

We let others make their own choices (even when we think they’re making a mistake) and trust that God’s got the outcomes handled.

Life feels simpler now. There’s a real peace that comes from knowing we can lean on the Twelve Step principles to guide us through whatever comes our way.

Today’s Affirmation:

I trust that by following the Twelve Step principles, the right answers will always come to me. Always.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own, a “little book” that offers daily reflections, meditations, and prayers to support a clean and sober life, with practical spiritual guidance for everyday living.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. She has spent over 20 years speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth. Her recovery from addiction started in Twelve-Step groups more than 30 years ago, and she’s passionate about helping others in those same groups.

This summary is not a substitute for the original book; all quotes are paraphrased and credited to the author and publisher. Thank you.
