*April 29*
Willfulness may win a battle but not a war.
Trying to force people to see things our way or live by our rules never really leads to lasting happiness.
Even if we “win” in the moment, it doesn’t feel good when we know others secretly resent us for it. Still, we do it—and our relationships suffer because of it.
Many of us turn to recovery programs or personal growth work because our relationships feel strained or out of balance. What we really want are peaceful, easygoing connections—fun times with the people we care about. But to have more of those moments, we’ve got to be willing to meet others halfway when we don’t see eye to eye.
And yes, that takes a little maturity. But the good news is though, The Twelve Steps can help us grow in that way.
It’s not always easy to stop fighting battles that don’t need to be fought. But the first three Steps give us the guidance to start letting go and trusting that we don’t have to figure it all out on our own.
Letting God—or whatever higher power we believe in to handle the heavy lifting, is where the real freedom starts.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will not struggle with anyone today. My peace of mind comes first.

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
