We can all recognize humble people when we see them: Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, and Gabdhi come quickly to mind. Even among our friends, we catch glimpses of humility every time they honestly seek guidance and God’s will, admitting they lack the answers or the knowledge they need. It’s not an accident that we see “humility in action. We are the students; they are the teachers.
Quieting our hearts and our minds to receive God’s guidance relieves us of pressure we may not have realized was there. We grow used to carrying too many burdens and trying to control too many outcomes. If we choose to be humble–that is, willing to give up our burdens to God–we will be in for difficult yet rewarding times: difficult in that we can no longer be sure events and people will turn out according to our plan; rewarding in that we can look forward to the best outcome for all concerned.
Today’s Affirmation:
My quiet heart will feel God’s presence today. My quiet mind will hear my directions.
