Only when we humbly ask for help are we ready to receive it.

Sometimes, our problems can feel overwhelming, and we just don’t know where to turn. Work is stressful, our health isn’t great, and living with a partner who drinks is getting harder. But even when things aren’t that serious, we still face challenges. Being human means dealing with tough times. It can be hard to ask for help because we worry it means we’re failing. After all, we’re adults who’ve taken care of ourselves and others for a long time. We don’t always have the answers, but we think we should.

Getting help from friends, sponsors, or our Higher Power gets easier with practice. Asking for help is something we can learn to do. And practice is key! But just as important as asking is being open to what we’re told. Are we ready to truly listen and take the advice to heart?

Today’s Affirmation:

I will open my heart to God’s wisdom today and find help for whatever troubles me.
