Sobriety is not the antidote to all problems.
A lot of us thought our problems would disappear once the addict got clean and sober. But we’re realizing that’s not true.
The good news is, with a small shift in how we look at things, we can start seeing problems as chances to grow. Fear used to hold us back. We didn’t know how to turn to a Higher Power for help, and we didn’t expect anything good to come out of tough situations, so we just gave up on trying to make things better. We thought life was just a never-ending cycle of pain that we had to deal with alone.
Since joining this journey, a lot of things have changed. Some of us still have someone in our lives who’s struggling with addiction. We might still drive the same old clunker or work for people who don’t appreciate us. But everything feels different now. We have hope where there used to be doubt, love where there used to be fear, and we feel God’s presence where we once felt totally alone.
Today’s Affirmation:
I am in good hands. No matter what is going on around me, I can feel safe and loved.
