I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace.” ―Hellen Keller.
How to Have More Peace and Less Stress in Your Life.
For a long time in my life, I did not have more peace and less stress in my life by reason of fear.
And I think so many of us don’t prioritize our peace for the exact same reason.
You fear the unknown.
you’d rather immerse yourself in other’s drama, toxic behaviors, than to enjoy your own company.
Or to say it more bluntly, you’d rather sold your souls, your integrity, than to walk with God.
Sadly, that’s the culture we live in. A culture that manipulates, abusive, luring many of us into cultivating a poor self-image.
And so today I will show you how to stop being so stressed out or suffering so much, by offering you a simple technique that I learned along my journey that may serve you well.
First, you have to realize that to obtain more peace and Less stress in your life will require that you familiarize yourself with the only two states you can be in at any giving time.
Let’s get into it.
…
The Only Two States We Can Be In At Any Moment In Time.
We can either be in a beautiful state or we can be in a state of suffering. And so, at any point in time in our lives, we are at varying degrees in one of these two states.
A beautiful state, is when you feel a sense of calm, peace, gratitude, joy, love, excitement, and compassion. It’s the feeling of Nirvana. The feeling you get when you take a deep breath, and release.
When you breath out the weight off your shoulders.
When your shoulders goes down, when your eyebrows kinda chill out. Your face is not tense, and you feel comfortable in your own skin.
And because of this, people are more comfortable around you.
Your children are more comfortable around you.
They don’t feel like they have to be on the edge all the time because your presence is calming.
It’s that underlying tone of peace. Of, “Things are okay right now,” kinda feelings. There’s not really a whole lot to worry about. And if there’s something to worry about, it’s not right now.
That my friend, is a beautiful state.
And you might know somebody who has this presence that is calming.
Like, it’s calming to be in their presence. You feel at ease.
That’s what it feels like when you’re with them. And because of their presence, it effects everyone you come in contact with. As it says in the Bhagavad-Gita, “Those who understand see themselves in all, and all, in themselves.”
Dig deep within yourself, for there is a fountain of goodness ever ready to flow if you will keep digging. ―Marcus Aurelius
All Matter is Energy. How to Have More Peace and Less Stress
We can act like our energy inside our body doesn’t effect everybody else, but you know it, and I know it does. Scientist who studied quantum physics, all believes that all matter is energy. Einstein’s famous equation that E=mc2 is basically an realization that there is no real difference between matter and energy. In other words, energy equals mass times the speed of light, to the second power, or something like that.
Mass and energy are both different expression of the same thing. A somewhat “unfamiliar concept for the average mind.” Remarked Einstein, in 1948.
And so everything that we see or imagine in our mind’s eyes, are made of energy.
Which is why you must protect your energy, to protect your heart.
A Beautiful State is Not About The Situation, or Circumstances of What’s Going On In Your Life.
A beautiful state is not about the situation, or circumstances of what’s going on in your life. Nor is it about being exactly where you want in life. Because the truth is, the circumstances will never perfect.
The circumstances or situations are what they are at the moment.
Eckhart Tolle would tell you to, “Accept whatever the present moment contains, as if you had chosen it.” “Work with it, rather than against it. Make it your ally.”
You, my friend, can be the calm in the eyes of the storms, as opposed to being in the storm itself.
It all really boils down to what you think about, and feel about, with the circumstances in your life.
I remember one time, I was at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and out of nowhere, it started raining heavily.
Now mind you, I had no proper gear on, let alone a single umbrella. And immediately the thought that rush in my head was like, “Fuck!”
But then after a while, I was like, “Ok, this isn’t that bad.”
“What’s beautiful about this moment?”
I ask myself the question, “What beauty can I find in this?”
So I started listing things off. Thinking of things that went right that day I could be grateful for.
And I remember talking to myself out from the stressful event, saying things like, “Hey, it doesn’t matter what happen. It doesn’t matter if the weather is the way it is, I’m going to be a peace.” “I’m going to find beauty in this moment, no matter what.”
And so that’s what I mean by your circumstances, or whatever happening around you, should not affect your internal state.
“Our internal state determines our experience of our lives; our experiences do not determine our internal state.”— Marianne Williamson
We can always try to master our internal state regardless of what’s going on externally. Worrying, never solve, or guaranteed anything. Except for more worrying.
The suffering state, is a state I’d sometime find myself in a lot when I was younger. But less so now. This state is all about worry, fear, anger, and sadness. It’s the feeling you get when something is not right. When you feel agitated all the time, and not at ease.
And so your nervous system might feel on guard 24/7, waiting for an attack. You feel something’s not right, so you need to be on edge,—consistently trying to protect yourself in some form of way.
Final Thoughts
It’s not that you don’t want more peace in your life, far from it, the problem is you have gotten stuck in certain behaviors out of habit.
You don’t know how else to act, so respectively, you entertain the devil you know.
And I get it, being a human is not an easy task. There’s a lot to maintain and unknown territories to explore. But in order to navigate your challenges gracefully, you must practice giving yourself more self-compassion. More self-love. More acceptance. More mindfulness. In doing so, you’ll open up the flood gate to more peace, and less stress in your life. As Mahatma Gandhi reminds us, “There is no ‘way to peace,’ there is only ‘peace.”
Thanks for reading. Till next time, stay bless.
I’ll see you in the next one.
