Yogi Master Patanjali on Inspiration

Dormant Forces Become Alive When You Discover This About Yourself.

Yogi Master Patanjali on Inspiration

Patanjali was a yogi who lived in India probably one to three centuries before Christ. He was one of the earlier sages to established the now popularized meditation tradition.

He believed in the power of the mind, of how it can transcend limitation that could propel us forward towards our greatest aspiration.

In his scriptures and teaching, Patanjali writes: When some great purpose inspires you, or some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitation, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties, and talents became alive, and you discover yourself to be a more remarkable person by far than you ever dreamed yourself.”―PATANJALI (C. FIRST TO the THIRD CENTURY B.C.)

To put Patanjali’s powerful Ideas to use, take action on the following:

  • Jot down in a notebook, or in a new document, the activities of your life that you feel most in spirit (inspired) by, that which brought you the most joy.
  • Listen only to the voice within you that attracts you to that activity. Then filter out advice from those telling you what they think you should be doing with your life.

As Patanjali points out, the key here is to become inspired from within, not from without.

Dormant forces become alive when you take matters to your own hands. And as American essayist Ralph W. Emerson would say, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
