The Subconscious: Secrets to a greater life

The conscious and the subconscious: the realm of cause and effect

We’ve all heard that our thoughts shape our lives, but what if I told you there’s a deeper layer to this?

Our conscious mind is just the tip of the iceberg. Below the surface, our subconscious mind is running the show, influencing everything we think, feel, and do — often without us even realizing it.

In this article, we’ll dive into how these two minds work, and how you can tap into the power of your subconscious to break free from old patterns and start creating the life you truly want.

As spiritual beings having a human experience, I believe we’re meant to grow and evolve beyond just sticking to old patterns. Wouldn’t you agree?

Let’s start.

The conscious and the subconscious: the realm of cause and effect

Consciousness, at its core, is divided into two parts: the conscious and the subconscious.

Neville Goddard, a well-known English writer and speaker, explains that the conscious mind is where we see the effects of what’s happening around us, while the subconscious is where the cause of things comes from.

Basically, the conscious mind is personal — it’s focused on what we’re aware of, what we decide on day-to-day.

The subconscious, on the other hand, is impersonal — it doesn’t care about whether what it accepts is right or wrong.

It just accepts whatever you feed it, whether that’s based on fact or emotion.

These two minds, says Goddard, are connected but operate differently.

Interestingly, some recent neuro-scientific research, shows that the subconscious mind is 1,000 to 6,000 times more powerful than the conscious mind.

That means the subconscious is controlling a huge chunk of everything we do, say, and think, even if we don’t realize it.

The subconscious doesn’t need you to validate your feelings or beliefs — it simply accepts what you believe to be true.

So, if you constantly focus on problems or difficulties, your subconscious will take that in and believe it’s true, and you’ll end up creating more obstacles in your life, even though you might not want to.

This causes stress and can keep you stuck in a cycle of negative thinking.

William James, known as the father of psychology, dedicated much of his life studying how the conscious and subconscious minds interact.

He concluded that if we only live in the conscious mind — focusing on the surface-level thoughts and immediate realities — we risk staying trapped in old patterns and limiting beliefs.

In other words, we’ll get stuck in a loop, constantly reacting to past experiences, instead of creating new possibilities.

We’ll stay focused on the same problems, unable to break free from them.

And according to Dr. Joe Dispenza, a neuroscientist and expert in brain and mind-body connection, he explains that imagination is a key tool to break free from this cycle.

He believes that when used effectively, imagination can help us reprogram our subconscious mind.

Just by simply visualizing and focusing on our ideal self — who we want to become — we can begin to rewire old thought patterns that no longer serve us.

Isn’t that amazing?

This shift in mindset can helps us align with our higher self and make decisions that are more in tune with our true potential.

We all have the ability to change the way we experience life by understanding the power of our minds.

The conscious mind may seem like it’s in control, but it’s the subconscious that holds the real power.

Remember that.

By learning to feed your subconscious with positive, empowering thoughts, and by using tools like imagination and visualization, you’ll eventually be able to break free from old patterns and create a life that’s more aligned with our spiritual and personal growth.

And so, the more you choose to let go of outdated beliefs and negative self-talk, the more you’ll allow your true potential to unfold.

Remember, the subconscious mind holds the power to shape the reality you desire. So, take the time to understand how both your conscious and subconscious minds work together — it’s the key to transforming your life.
